San Diego Comic-Con 09 - Sat - Paramount Pictures' Iron Man 2 panel
Yes, I know I'm behind on posting my reports from Comic-Con, but believe me, I am uber exhausted by the end of the day, as I'm out all day/night and I immediately take a shower and sleep, so I can rest up for the next day.
However, today, I went to Paramount Pictures' panel, which was my first Paramount panel, as this was their only panel this year, as they none last year. The movie they brought out to the con this year was Iron Man 2. It was one of the most highly anticipated things to see at the Con this year (besides Twilight: New Moon), as it took over Hall H, where Heroes normally is, where that show's panel got moved to a smaller venue.
Director Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johannson showed up to the panel. Favreau came out first, along with producer Kevin Fiege and showed us a 1min long footage, showing some behind-the-scenes montage of filming the new film. After that, Robert Downey Jr. walks onstage unannounced, and everyone in the room went nuts!
Him and Favreau were jokingly bickering at one another at how Favreau was cheating the fans by showing only that measly footage, when RDJ got to see lots in the editing room. After Favreau mentioned it was his son's birthday, RDJ got the crowd to sing happy birthday to him in exchange to show some real footage, which they did, and it was awesome!
Now, we weren't allowed to take video, as the Con have strict rules about that stuff, but here's a description:
Clip 1 - Shows an unmasked Iron Man having donuts, sitting on a large donut. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) shows up, and it next shows the two having coffee together.
Clip 2 - Shows Tony Stark (RDJ), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and the new James Rhodes, Don Cheadle at some Senator hearing, where the Senator (Garry Shandling) orders Stark to hand over his Iron Man technology to the U.S. Government, but of course, Stark refuses and makes little quips over it.
Trailer - We see shots of Scarlett as Black Widow, Mickey Rourke, sporting a Russian accent as the new villain Whiplash, some really awesome fight scenes, and in the end, we see Rhodes suiting up as War Machine!
Iron Man 2 opens May 7, 2010!
